About Our Speakers

Dehenna Davison

Dehenna Davison is the Member of Parliament for Bishop Auckland, elected in 2019 as the first Conservative to represent the constituency since its creation in 1885.

Growing up on a council estate in Sheffield, social mobility and social justice have been drivers and motivators. Dehenna subsequently is on the Board of the Blue Collar Conservatives, a group seeking to promote policy which supports the levelling-up agenda.

Since becoming an MP in December 2019, Dehenna has been elected onto the Home Affairs Select Committee, seeking to be a voice for victims after experiencing a personal family tragedy in her early life. She is also Co-Chair of the APPG on British Bioethanol, and vice-chair of the APPGs for Sport, Music, and Video Games.

Dehenna graduated from the University of Hull in 2016, having studied British Politics and Legislative Studies. Before becoming an MP, she worked as a Research and Development Analyst for a County Durham start-up, and has previously worked in local government in a digital transformation role, in video gaming retail, and in various roles across the leisure and hospitality industries.

In his spare time Dean is an artist and has had 4 Prime Ministers sign his artworks over the years which have been auctioned for a range of good causes and events. He is also a children's book author with four published books.

At University Dean gained a Physics and Business Studies degree and an MPhil in Physics and Material Science and published two scientific papers. Dean is the former Vice Chair for the Herts Federation of Small Business and a former member of the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce. Dean founded his own business “Win That Pitch” where he advised small businesses and was appointed as a start-up mentor in 2018 by London & Partners as part of their Business Growth Hub.

Dean has been active in challenging the stigma of mental health for many years and has worked with many different political groups.

He has been appointed as a lecturer for the Institute for Direct & Digital Marketing and as an adjunct lecturer at Ashridge (Hult) Business School and has worked on a range of projects with them and the NHS over the years.

He is a former District Councillor when he led a significant reform to create a Health & Wellbeing Partnership to ensure mental health and older people were prioritised in the community.
